We wanted to let our Mac users know that we are currently investigating what work we need to do to make a native client for the Mac desktops, laptops, and IPads. We don't have a date yet.
In the meantime, here's some suggestions for those of you that can't wait to get your fill of safeharborgames on your Mac.
For those of you who already have boot camp installed - where you can choose to boot into either MS Windows or Mac OS:
I recommend getting either VMWare Fusion 4, or Parallels for the Mac 7. Either one will allow you use your boot camp installation to run Windows programs along side your regular Macintosh programs. Both are available at
the Apple Store online (http://www.apple.com/ and click on Store at the top). Right now (as of Nov, 2011), Apple is offering free shipping, even for software.
For those of you who have your MS Windows OS installation disk, you can do the same thing with either VMWare Fusion 4 or Parallels. You will need to install the emulator first, and then there will be an option to
create a Windows instance, which will require you to insert your Windows OS installation CD. I personally have installed Parallels for the Mac on my IMac and use the "Coherence" mode, which allows me to run
Safeharborgames (as well as any other Windows program) as if it were already native to the Mac (see my screenshot below)
For the IPad, I don't have a solution yet - I do see there will be emulators available for the IPad, but nothing that I have been able to test so far.
Other than that, we'll just to wait till we are able to integrate the Mac world into our Safeharborgames family.
